SINO-US Customs Memorandum on Intellectual Property Enforcement signs in Washington
August 8, 2007On May 23, 2007, a spokesman of the General Administration of Customs of the PRC (GAC) declared that the Chinese and the US Customs signed the Memorandum on Strengthening Cooperation in Intellectual Property Enforcement on May 22nd in Washington, which is one of the important achievements made in the second Sino-US Strategic Economic Dialogue.
Mr. Mu Xinsheng, director of the GAC, together with Mr. Ralph Basham, director of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, signed the Memorandum on behalf of the two counties respectively.
According to the Memorandum, China and the US will further strengthen their cooperation in terms of visitors, technology of enforcement practice, enforcement experience exchange, data exchange and notification of the enforcement cases information .
The spokesman said that both China and US shoulder the responsibility in the intellectual property protection and both have made important achievements and accumulated rich experiences. The signing of the Memorandum will play a positive role in further enhancing cooperation between the two countries, jointly cracking down the flowing of the counterfeiting and pirate goods between the two countries, as well as urging Sino-US trading development in healthy and good order.
