76.05 Million Pirated Publications Confiscated in China in 2008
February 28, 2009According to the State Anti-Porno/Illicit Office, in 2008, anti-piracy and intellectual property protection work in China made a great progress. In that year, 76.05 million pirated publications confiscated and 12,490 pirated publication infringement cases investigated.
With regards to confiscated pirated publications, there were 56.79 million video and audio products, 13.09 million books, 3.35 million teaching materials, and 2.81 million software and digital publications in that year.
Around April 26, 2008, which was World Intellectual Property Day, the State Anti-Porno/Illicit Office organized local governments to investigate, judge, and publicize a series of piracy cases. They also launched many intellectual property protection and anti-piracy campaigns, including organizing 31 provinces and cities to destroy 47.18 pirated products collectively. Compared to past years, this was the largest amount of destroyed pirated products.
