EU to Roll Back Trademark Fees in May
April 2, 2009The European Union Commission announced that the trademark registrations fees will be cut and application fees would remain. Thus, the total cost would be rolled back by 40% for enterprises and individuals who apply for trademark protection in EU.
According to the announcement, the total cost will drop to €1,050 from €1,750 for an application, a decrease of 40%. Companies that apply online will pay even less – €900 instead of €1,600, a decrease of 44%. For EU validation of an individual trademark, the fee will fall to €870 from €1,450, a decrease of 40%. These applications are becoming more accessible and less time-consuming.
