Writers call on enhancing online copyright protection

On August 18, at the symposium on writers' copyright protection co-sponsored by Chinese Writers Association and State Copyright Administration held in Beijing, the writers and experts who attended the meeting denounced online piracies. They expressed that, in recent years, the related departments gained remarkable achievements in combating copyright infringement and protecting writers' rights and interests. However, along with the coming of internet period, the copyright protection of literary works is facing with new problems.

The famous writer Zhang Kangkang said that, the management departments must consummate and consolidate relevant laws and supervision, maintain writers' creation rights and interests, and protect writers' originality.

The Deputy Director of State Copyright Administration Yan Xiaohong said that, China attaches great importance to IP protection all the time. And State Copyright Administration set up special fund for awarding reporting, put emphasis on online infringement, and launched the fifth internet special rectification action.

It is learnt that, the Chinese Writers Association puts emphasis on protecting writers' rights and interests all long and has made large amount of works since its establishment.
